Communities all across this province have various needs and opportunities for ministry. Each community is different and what’s needed in one community is different from what’s needed in another. What works in my community may not work in yours.
However, there are many opportunities for ministry if we are willing to think creatively, invest our time and resources, and commit ourselves to bless our communities – with no strings attached! This Christmas season can be marked by a great ADVENTure if we, as a movement, decide to take action together.
Check out our Facebook Event Page to stay up to date on what some of our local assemblies are doing this ADVENTure Season!
We’re challenging every church to find ways to join the ADVENTure! The call is for your church to look for opportunities to bless your community, make the necessary plans, and put those plans into action. God will bless your initiatives and the PAONL family, through the Formission Movement, will be a powerful force of hope and love in our province.
Every congregation should get involved, but the challenge is also extended to various ministry departments in local churches: youth and children’s ministries, women’s and men’s ministries, 50+ groups, small groups, etc. How can we extend the impact? By getting as many people as possible involved! Also, don’t forget to #ShareTheAdventure
Highlight a need within your community. See an opportunity for your local Church to take action.
Engage your people in rallying around the opportunity. Make a plan to do something that will meet the need.
Specifically for this initiative and what it could mean in your context. Continually for your community and ability to see the possibilities.
Celebrate the impact of your action in response to God’s call. Watch for the spiritual growth that will result from this decision to serve.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:16
While each initiative will take on the local context, here are some ideas to spark your church’s creativity:
Home for Christmas Dinner
Invite individuals/families in the community who are without extended family around them into homes of Church members for Christmas dinner.
Family Fun Day
The church can partner with the town to put off a day that rallies & blesses the community.
Seniors Home Ministry
This could include a traditional service but could also provide opportunity to connect relationally with residents.
Partner with a Local Charity
Your church could highlight a non-profit doing great work in your town and offer to come alongside of them to power their efforts with resource, personnel, and support.
